Once the weather starts to warm up, Josh and I pick up at least one watermelon each week at the grocery store. I love having some with my breakfast or for a snack, but my favorite way to enjoy watermelon lately is in these slushies.
In fact, I’ve already made this recipe three times because we love it so much. The consistency is absolutely perfect and the taste is incredible!
You’ll only need four ingredients to make these slushies too. You’ll start with some frozen watermelon cubes, which is necessary to get the right consistency for this recipe. Sometimes I add ice to slushies, but the problem is that after so long the ice melts and tends to water down the drink. To avoid that, I used frozen watermelon instead of ice in this recipe and it worked perfectly!
So for this recipe, you’ll start by cutting up your watermelon and cubing it into smaller pieces. The best way to freeze the watermelon is to line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the cubed watermelon into an even layer on it, then pop it into the freezer for a few hours. This will prevent the watermelon pieces from sticking together into one large clump and you can easily measure it out. You’ll want to make sure to do this step a little ahead of time, the night before or even a couple hours ahead of time will work fine.
Next, you’ll add in some lime flavored sparkling water and fresh lime juice. Key lime or lime flavored sparkling water both work well in this recipe. You can feel free to use another flavor you love too! For just a touch of sweetness, I also added in a couple packets of Born Sweet Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener.
One thing that I love about Born Sweet Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener is that it’s made with real ingredients, nothing artificial. It adds the perfect touch of sweetness to smoothies, tea, and is even delicious sprinkled over some fresh fruit. Lately I’ve been adding a packet to my coffee in the mornings and it adds just the perfect amount of sweetness.
1 packet of Born Sweet Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener is about 1/4 teaspoon and equal to the sweetness of 2 teaspoons of sugar. For this recipe, I find that two packets is just the right amount of sweetness. If you prefer your drink a little sweeter, feel free to add in another packet!
If you prefer your slushie a little more tart, you can add in a little extra lime juice. The full recipe will make two servings, but you can halve the recipe or even double it! I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

Notes
Could you use diet 7 up or Sprite with the lime juice? I’ve been looking for healthy recipes to use with my new Nutri Ninja
Hi Renee! I think that 7up or Sprite would work just fine in place of the sparkling water.
Wow! I’ve never had a watermelon slushie but now I want one so bad! This looks wonderful!
You definitely have to try one out when you get a chance, Jess! They are so good!
These slushies are so perfect for hot summer days! That is such a great idea to freeze the watermelon so you don’t have to add ice. And the watermelon lime flavor sounds so good!
Thank you, Kristine! The frozen watermelon is what really makes these slushies 🙂
These slushies sound and look delicious, Danielle! Such a delicious drink for a hot summer day. 🙂
These slushies look AMAZING!! I love watermelon and lime together!!
They’re so good together, aren’t they?! Thanks, Annie!
I’m totally craving this slushie today because it’s in the 90s! And whenever it’s hot and sticky, I just want to hole up in the air conditioning and sip on cold drinks. I love the idea of freezing watermelon! Such a great idea and I love that it doesn’t water the drink down like ice cubes would. Sounds so perfect for this hot day!
It’s been in the 90’s here too, so I know how you feel! Thank you, Gayle!
SO I am obsessed with freezing bananas for smoothies but I have never frozen watermelon before! This is brilliant because when we buy a watermelon there is just SO MUCH WATERMELON, and we get sick of it. Now I am going to cube it and freeze it for these slushies!
I usually end up freezing half the watermelon we buy because it’s always way too much! You definitely have to try it, it’s soooo good in slushies 🙂
I do like an easy, refreshing drink recipe! Stevia is my go-to sweetener when I can use it to sweeten my drinks.
Same here, Kaylin! I’ve been loving the Zing sweetener lately.
