Restaurant Style Salsa
This fresh and easy restaurant style salsa makes a perfect appetizer and comes together in less than 10 minutes. This salsa uses only fresh ingredients and can easily be made in a blender or food processer.
I’ve had salsa on my list of things to make for quite a while now, but I’ve kind of pushed it to the side. Something about making salsa left me a little.. intimated? I really have no idea why, maybe because baking is more of my thing. Well, I decided to finally get over it and just try it out.
Um.. why have I been pushing this salsa making business aside for so long?
I can’t even begin to tell you how easy it is to make this salsa. Seriously. The only prep work required is a little washing and chopping, then your food process or blender does the rest of the work. Trust me on this one, you won’t want to go back to store bought salsa after making your own.
Side note – how gorgeous are these ingredients? You’ll actually need a total of six tomatoes for this recipe. I used roma tomatoes because they’re my favorite. I used an entire jalapeno with the seeds removed and the salsa wasn’t spicy at all, so don’t be freaked out by it. If you like your salsa spicier, then you can leave the seeds.
Also, for those of you who dislike cilantro have no fear! I can’t lie I seriously dislike cilantro, but the amount in this recipe is perfect. If you really like cilantro, you can feel free to double the amount. We can still be friends.
So, to get this salsa making started all you need to do is slice the ends off of your tomatoes and then slice them in half. Next up, give your onion and cilantro a little chop. No need to over do it, the food processor will do all of the work. Then slice your jalapeno in half and remove the seeds, or leave them to make it spicier.
Then pulse, pulse, pulse!
If you like a chunkier salsa, just pulse a few times in your food processor or blender. If you like it thinner, then let her whirl for a bit longer. I love my salsa a lot thinner. Restaurant style all the way!
The beautiful thing about this salsa is that it tastes so incredibly fresh, unlike your average store bought salsa. You can also make this salsa ahead of time and serve it when you’re ready. If you make it ahead of time, the salsa has longer to sit together so the flavors can marry. It’s also good straight out of the food processer, with tortilla chips.. or a spoon.
Pure perfection!

RELATED RECIPE
Hi- can you please tell me how many ounces a serving is for the restaurant salsa recipe? We are wanting kids at school to make this for Mother’s Day/Father’s Day so we need to plan for jar sizes!
Hi, Mandy! It’s been quite a while since I’ve made this recipe and I can’t remember the exact amount it yields. I would guess about 1.5 cups of salsa, so maybe 1/4 cup per serving. The next time I make it, I will update the recipe to include that information!
Wow! This tastes just like restaurant salsa (which I love). I usually grown enough tomatoes to can my own salsa, but alas this year did not turn out. I had a bunch of little amish paste tomatoes on my window sill and found this recipe and it is a total winner! This is such a simple, fresh recipe, and will be in my summer rotation! Much better than my old canning salsa! I added an extra clove of garlic because I love garlicky salsa. So quick and easy, and I definitely appreciate not having to peel and take the seeds out of the tomatoes. Like you said, took about 10 minutes max to come together!
I made this today with our fresh garden tomatoes, jalapenos and onion and put in an air tight container. The salsa didn’t even make it 5 minutes before the 3 men in my life ate it all. I’ll have to make another batch.
Love this recipe, was so simple, and I can make double batches within 15 minutes and we love it. Even better after it sits for a few hours. Love that all I have to do is toss the pieces in a blender, I don’t have to chop a bazillion little chunks of anything up. Just tossed it in the blender and Pulsed till its desired consistency. Love love love!
I don’t usually comment on recipes, but I need to with this recipe. This salsa was sooo good. I only had enough tomatoes to make 1/2 recipe so that’s what I did and I wish I had more since it’s almost gone. The only changes that I made were a bit more onion and cilantro (I love the raw onion and cilantro in salsa) and the a little seeds from the jalapeno for a bit more spiciness. Those are just my preferences, but it’s still a really good recipe and I have it saved.
So delicious, so fast, so easy!
I eat like a gallon of salsa a week! It is funny cause it really is so easy to make, but I seem to buy it more often than make it. I love all the ingredients you used and will have to make this salsa soon 🙂
Love, love, love me some salsa! It’s so healthy but you still get to eat with a chip which makes it that much better. Pinning for the next time I go to the store. Time to stock up on tomatoes 🙂
